Reflection
Naturally, as human beings, we want to leave our impact on the world. While this class does not ultimately achieve that goal, it does however show us students how to transfer image onto mediums. Pretty close, eh? What's better than imprinting visuals onto surfaces around you using only materials found at home or at your nearby craft store? I was fascinated with the various methods used that I just kept on going to test the limit. Despite this, I have not done much exploration except to continuously try the taught methods till I was satisfied with the results.
We learnt 3 methods of image transfers: using ironing, solvent and adhesive medium. The image transfers were done on various surfaces such as paper, wood and fabric. Some of these methods were (still) unsuccessful like the ironing of image onto fabric. I can safely say that everyone's favourite method was using the adhesive tape to do image transfer. It's quick and simple! Other methods such as using a thinner or an iron required more effort (literally) to transfer the image onto the surface. Even so, the result does not appearly nicely as what the adhesive tape had to offer.
Brief
Design a wooden signage for a shop. I chose the local bakery, Fluff Bakery, and designed a wooden signage cartered to them. Fluff Bakery is fun and shares comfort in cakes, cookies and their specialty: cupcakes. I wanted the design to be simple yet joyful just ike the shop itself.
